Upcoming Events

Big things are happening at $work; Most of my time has been tied up architecting and helping design the flexpods we recently purchased from NetApp. More info on that can be found here.

The other item I have been busy with is our data center shutdown. We are getting a new UPS and we have to power down the primary server room for 48 hours during the installation.

Network, Compute, and Storage.

So at $work I have had the pleasure of becoming the primary administrator of our new Flexpods. For those that do not know; Flexpods are Netapp’s answer to the vBlock from EMC.

Our purchase was the largest in our region. It consists of 26 Cisco UCS blades spread across 5 chassis and 60TB of usable Netapp storage. Oh, and another one just like it for failover sitting in our second datacenter. Each of the blades is running VMware vSphere 4.1.1.

Since my coworker is doing such an excellent job covering the happenings I will just link to his blog, http://www.singlemaltcloud.com. He is using his portion of the Flexpods for our virtual desktop initiative. It really is exciting working with the newest technology.
